DOLPHINS WINTER SWIMMING CLUB

Who We Are

The Dolphins formed in 1985 sponsored by the Tweed Heads Dolphins Hotel using the enclosed Jack Evans Boat harbour for swims.  In 1997 the club relocated to the surf club at Greenmount Beach, Coolangatta which has continued as the meeting place for activities.  Weekly swims still continue in the boat harbour or if conditions are favourable, in the surf.

Membership is open to all levels of swim ability with ladies and families welcome.

Winter Swim Programme:
  • Commences 1st Sunday in May
  • Finishes last Sunday in September
  • Each Sunday nominations are taken 9am at the surf club
  • Bonding activities follow swimming 9:30am
  • Annual Swim Programme with other clubs:
  • June – Gold Coast Marlins, Southport
  • July – Invitation Day – Greenmount Beach
  • August – Local area “Top End Shield” Relay clubs from Byron Bay, Ballina to Southport.
  • August – Cudgen Coldies, Kingscliff

Memorable Successes:
Commencing 2013 Consecutive medals in the association handicap replay – Silver – Gold – Gold.
Our Olympian, Chris Fydler open 50m record of 23.03 seconds, 1995 still stands to this day.
